ECCO opens the first of three planned ECCO concept stores in India, starting in Gurgaon Ambience shopping mall in Delhi. Having identified a strong potential in the Indian market, online business will follow in the first quarter of 2020, allowing approximately 1.3 bn Indians to shop ECCO products from ECCO’s website.
When ECCO opened the doors to its new concept store in Delhi, India, on 8 November 2019, it was not only the result of careful analysis, planning, and preparation. The store opening marks the beginning of ECCO’s venture in India, making ECCO’s premium quality products available also to the Indian consumers.
The new ECCO concept store is located in Gurgaon Ambience Shopping mall, the largest operating shopping mall in India with one kilometer of shopping experiences on each of its six floors. Although the retail market in India is challenging, ECCO has identified a potential within retail in the Indian market.
“We see a strong demand from consumers who know what they want, and who appreciate the quality and consistent brand experience they get from ECCO. We continuously work to understand our customers better, and we hope to be able to convey the passion of our employees and our brand story to them,” says CEO Steen Borgholm.
Online shopping in Q1 2020
ECCO has an additional two store openings coming up: one in Pune and one in northern Mumbai. ECCO’s new stores in India will be concept stores where consumers are able to touch and feel the products, and also to communicate with highly skilled store personnel to find the perfect fit. However, e-commerce business will also be highly important in India, as it is all over the regions where ECCO is present. By the first quarter of 2020, customers in India will be able to buy ECCO products online.
