We design running shoes based on the Scandinavian idea that form follows function. The barefoot is designed by nature to absorb impact, propel forward and progressively strengthen. Conventional running shoes inhibit this functionality. ECCO BIOM NATURAL MOTION helps to optimise it.

BIOM defines the sweet spot between minimalism and support. By combining barefoot flexibility with anatomical structures, BIOM shoes help guide you to your most efficient natural stride. Our road shoes feature soles and support tuned for asphalt and hard surfaces.

Trail Running

These shoes balance the support and traction needed for trail running with the flexibility that enables your optimal barefoot gait. In our experience, trail running is the ultimate way to experience BIOM NATURAL MOTION while running in nature.

BIOM EVO RACER

A minimalist shoe for training and competitive running, weighs in at a featherweight 240 g (Men's size 41 textile). This low-to-the-ground shoe combines a glove-like fit with bio-mimicking anatomical support that helps guide the foot to its optimal natural motion path. We expect to see more and more runners racing and winning in this shoe.

DIRECT-INJECTION. 
We have long mastered this technology, which involves injecting an extremely resilient material into foot-shaped molds, letting us create shoes that are shaped noticeably more like the foot and which absorb shock throughout. Perfect for a natural running shoe.

Where it all started

RESEARCH-PROVEN BENEFITS
In 2010 the German Sport University of Cologne followed a large group of serious runners. All were tested in bio-mechanical gait analysis under three different conditions: barefoot; in their current running shoes; and in BIOM running shoes. Runners were assessed to evaluate their current running style. They then trained for six weeks in BIOM and were reassessed.

RESULTS
After six weeks, the subjects' running styles substantively changed, becoming more efficient and smoother with measurably more of a powerful push-off. Runners adapted to use the muscles in the knees, lower legs, and feet to cushion themselves. They also demonstrated better utilization of the Achilles tendon.

The human foot evolved to function in a world before asphalt. In primitive times, people walked on dirt and grass, which provided a certain amount of cushioning — and their feet were calloused and tough. BIOM enables the foot to move naturally while providing protection and anatomical support.
