ECCO launches innovative high-heeled shoes

According to the designer behind ECCO’s news Shape collection, Niki Tæstensen, the new collection is inspired by today’s fashion oriented and busy women:

"We have created a collection of shoes and boots, which are both sexy and comfortable. Women want to look good, but with an active work- and everyday life, women are constantly busy and the need for comfort prioritized as well as style and design.”

With ECCO’s new SHAPE collection, you no longer need to choose between style and comfort.

What makes the heel innovative?
The most unique element of the ECCO SHAPE collection is the shank - the supportive structure between the insole and outsole. The shank is curved (as opposed to most tradition flat shanks) with holes running through the middle, which allows a thin layer of polyurethane (PU) to flow through the holes forming a shaped foot bed.

The foot bed has an anatomical shape, which follows the contours of a woman’s foot, giving outstanding comfort. The shank gives a supported, natural fit and allows the foot to rest approximately 15mm closer to the ground by allowing the foot to sink 15mm into the heel. This gives you get the elegance and appearance of a 90mm high heel, but due to the unique construction of SHAPE, your foot is only lifted 75mm of the ground, making them more comfortable to wear.

Furthermore, the anatomical shank prevents the foot from slipping forward in the shoe, reducing the pressure on the ball of the foot.

Last, but not least, the SHAPE outsole is made of PU, creating a lightweight and flexible outsole for better shock absorption. ECCO is the first company on the market to use this technology in heels, and that’s why we call it innovation.

“The SHAPE collection unites the best from two worlds, and I’m very proud of the results,” concludes Niki Tæstensen.
